WRITING AND HYPERTEXT |
The advent of hypertext is beginning to have a considerable impact on our society; much of our future learning, communication, and information gathering activities will utilize the World Wide Web. |
|
Writing and Hypertext is a writing and web page construction course, which mean you will be learning how to use the library and the internet to gather, distill, and present information in two mediums: a research paper and a web page. There will also be a number of shorter writing assignments and journal summaries in the course and we will be spending a significant amount of time studying theories about information so we can develop a more critical sensibility regarding hypertext. |
After you have finished your written project, you will reformat your ideas in HTML (hyper text markup language) and produce a web page so you can better understand the advantages and disadvantages of both mediums.
This does not mean that every word in your paper will find its way onto your webpage, nor am I suggesting that you cannot add other elements to your webpages suck as graphics and sound that were not in your paper.
In the last week of the course you will present youe web page to all of us, and then as a group we will design a class homepage that links all of our individual webpages together in an appropriate fashion. Our final group project will be ported to the English department webpage.
